In November 2006, King County Newspapers was sold to Black Press. Major re-organization of company included closing of daily.
  • In February 2007 I installed computers and trained users for all seven bi-weekly papers on Macintosh-based systems, making it possible to transition to twice-weekly publication within two weeks.
  • Over the course of 2007, the seven papers were relocated to individual offices and we started two new papers and purchased another. I managed the installation of new computers & networks, and retraining of staff on upgraded workflow and software for all nine locations as well as for the two weeklies.
  • Redesigned Reporter newspapers and created design guide for paginators.

Promoted from Director to Vice-President in December, 2001. Managed staff of 6 to provide user support and system maintenance for 2 daily, 2 weekly and 7 bi-monthly publications.

  • In 2006 worked with vendor to out-source hosting of websites for 3 daily newspapers in Horvitz group. Worked with management team to determine desired features of sites, designed structure and graphics for sites and configured workflow and trained users on content management.
  • In 2004 was project manager for consolidation of operations. Managed $1.5 million project to consolidate staff from Bellevue production facility into existing Kent facility. Controlled all aspects of project from designing building remodel, space planning, furniture purchase and move coordination.
  • In 2002 designed and outsourced development of database marketing system that tied to our existing circulation management system, allowing us to create direct-mail and telemarketing campaigns.
  • In 2001, designed web-based system to put customer invoices accessible online, making it possible for users to reference and print or email invoices - replacing previous system of printed invoices placed in binders and kept in accounting dept. This made it not only easier for internal staff and the customer, it also saved thousands every year in paper.
